Meet Our Team

Dr. Ajaz Rashid, DVM

Ever since Dr. Ajaz Rashid was a child, he dreamed of spending his career caring for animals.  Visiting the zoo was his passion, and as you can see pictured here, many of his dreams were fulfilled!

After graduating veterinary school, Dr. Rashid worked in many leading positions.  He managed a government veterinary hospital, was head veterinarian at another hospital, and aspired to work in wildlife.  Dr. Rashid, through very tough competition, was selected to work in wildlife, where he quickly became a very famous veterinarian in the wildlife department.  He was the first veterinarian in the history of Asia to breed Royal Bengal Tigers in zoo captivity, and also has many other fun stories of his time at the zoo!

After coming to the USA, Dr. Rashid passed his ECFG certificate through study at the University of Missouri, Columbia USA.  Dr. Rashid worked in a multinational company in the USA as an associate veterinarian, where in the short time of six months, was promoted to chief of staff and partner doctor.  Dr. Rashid worked as a relief doctor in the Crown Veterinary Specialists 24 hours Emergency Hospital  and the Humane Society.

Dr. Rashid continues to volunteer in his town of Swedesboro, NJ, offering senior citizens quality and free pet care one day each month in their homes.

In October 2013 , Dr. Rashid opened a new facility in East Windsor, NJ called East Windsor Animal Hospital.  All the latest in-house diagnostic digital dental x-ray and digital radiography was installed.  He continues to use his vast knowledge and expertise to benefit our community pets.

Dr. Rashid  has 25 years of experience in veterinary medicine, and surgery .  He frequently performs many  cosmetic procedures, complicated soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic surgery unlike many other general practice veterinarians in the area.  Dr. Rashid is also the first veterinarian in the area to introduce  Vet Stem Cell Therapy, to give new hope to our older furry friends.  He is also one of the few veterinarians in the area who uses a surgical laser to perform most surgical procedures.

Among many other medical techniques used in our practice Dr. Rashid is also the first veterinarian in the USA who introduced an anti-cancer vaccine with a German collaboration. The vaccine is used to treat a variety of aggressive tumors. This very advanced treatment will make your pet more comfortable. We want to make the process of dealing with cancer in animals as painless as possible.

Dr. Rashid favorite Quote :

"I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no 'brief candle' to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to the future generations.”

From a young age I use to love to visit the Bronx zoo with my family and was completely  fascinated with all the animals, I knew at that time that I had a passion to work with animals and would eventually fulfill that desire. I have been involved with greyhound rescue since 1995 and am still actively involved today. I fell in love with greyhounds.  My first greyhound named Shamrock was a champion in Ireland. She was brought over to the US  because she was on her way to a track in Vietnam where she would  have been destroyed. She was a beautiful fawn and white girl. After Shamrock I got Shadow when he was two and a half years old; aloof at first but warmed up quickly and took over my heart. He was a beautiful tuxedo color. On Halloween we used to put a bow tie on him so that he looked like a James Bond agent.  After Shadow passed away I got Twinkie who was a success at the track. Her racing name was Dangerous Baby.  She loves long walks and always keeps me feeling young and on my toes. She is the best dog I could have ever asked for;  they all are.

I am happy to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful people. Dr. Rashid is a  complete veterinarian  whom I trust with my pets and I am sure you will trust him with yours.

Ella Kats ( Veterinary Technician Assistant/ CSR )
Growing up in Russia there were a lot of stray animals in my neighborhood. It killed me to see these animals without a home so I took it upon myself to bring them home, nurse them, get them better and adopt them out to people. When I was three my father who adores horses took me horseback riding for the first time to a place where he used to compete and ever since then I fell in love. My passion for horses grew. There was nothing more amazing to me than being surrounded by horses. It was my safe place. As my parents got busier with work in fifth grade I found a job at the Zoo of Moldova, where i volunteered as a zoo keeper in exchange for riding their horses.
My love for horses did not stop there. During my free time I volunteer for Helping Hearts Equine Rescue which is an amazing organization who rescues horses in need and gives them a second chance no matter what their background.
When I am not at work I am either volunteering or at school where I am currently working on my Biology degree as well as my Nursing degree.  I am at home taking care of my critters which include my miniature pig Mr. POPO,  rescue goat Bella, chickens out of which my favorite is Clara but we wont tell the other 10. It doesn't stop there. I keep  snakes, dogs, cats, lizards, guinea pigs, ferrets, ducks , fish, rabbits,  and mice; all of which reside or previously resided in my home in uncountable numbers. What can I say but I love them all.
I have been with Dr Rashid for four years now and this is the first time I can say that I have ever had an understanding boss. He cares for his employees and that is why we work like a family. I trust him with all my critters and am happy to be working with such wonderful people who always put the animals first.

Jen Lauer (Veterinary Assistant/ Receptionist)

I am currently attending East Stroudsburg University. I am a senior and will be graduating with a degree in Pre-Vet and a double minor in economics and chemistry. I plan to go to veterinary school after I finish at East Stroudsburg, however I do not know where I will be attending yet.

I have owned dogs, cats, and rabbits my whole life. I also have many horses. I decided I wanted to be a veterinarian at the age of five and never changed my mind. I have always loved animals and have a passion for helping them.

I am new to the East Windsor Animal Hospital team, but am very excited to working here and gaining experience for my future as a veterinarian.
